May it be Ibiza, London or Dubai: there are few Djs with a more international touch than “finally famous” Tapesh, and even fewer whose style you could identify as really unique. At a time when most people couldn’t spell the word DJing, young teenage Tapesh dived into the growing US and UK Breakdance, Funk & Acid House scene and uncovered an enormous musical talent that soon got acknowledged by real stars like Loco Dice, Richie Hawtin or Marco Carola. His multi-cultural roots, as well as his experience and feeling for mixing the popular with the uncommon give Tapesh’ sets that flamboyant magic-potion touch you will only find one in a million. This special “Tapesh-feeling” is also recognisable in his own productions, which are released by top labels like Snatch!, Rebirth, Monique Musique,Defected or Noirmusic and by now get regularly played in Pete Tong’s world famous BBC radio show. But that’s not all: For those who live on the rest of the planet, Tapesh already started a huge world tour, which means even more locations, more fans, and certainly - more fame.Zidan [ZidanMusic]http://www.blogger.com/profile/12920214215134385995noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2137777892732087485.post-4706939235235351792011-11-11T09:27:00.000-05:002011-11-11T09:27:07.998-05:00Le Bal Masque @ Boulevard Montreal [Official Video]Thought I would share the video from the latest event that I spun at!
Awarded the 'Best Break Through Producer of 2010' award by Pete Tong, England's Tom Flynn is renowned as one of House musics most respected forward thinking producers. An International DJ, Producer, Engineer and Remixer, Tom has regularly graced the worlds biggest dance floors as well as gaining an army of fans along the way. His DJ sets range through the whole spectrum of house, from deep to techno, which also reflects itself in his productions and remixes.

Having released on labels such as Anabatic, Dirtybird, BreakNewSoil, Clarisse, Deadfish, SIZE, etc etc, it's not hard to see why Tom has gained praise and recognition from the cream of the worlds best DJ's. His music can regularly be heard on Pete Tongs Essential Selection show on BBC Radio 1, where he has also won the 'Essential New Tune' for 'Bianca', as well as in the record boxes of Richie Hawtin, Luciano, Dubfire, Yousef, Claude Vonstroke, Booka Shade, Mendo and Loco Dice. Several Music Magazines and Blogs have recently sited Tom as one of House musics brightest stars and it's easy to see why.

Coming from a very musical background, there was only one way Tom was going to go once House music had been discovered at the early age of 12. From recently learning to play piano to picking up studio secrets from mentor Lee Fisher (of MOTHER fame), and studying music at college, Tom has been hard at work in and out of the studio ever since. Saturday 18th on weatradio.gr!! 15:00pm NY !

Anyone tapped into the pulse or keeping score of modern electronic music has probably heard of Timo Garcia. Straddling the fine line between underground darling and big room, big tune dance floor arsonist, his numerous releases on the circuit's biggest and best labels has been well documented as he currently sits pretty at #323 in the latest global Top 1000 DJ poll. (1st Aug, 11)

In a world when DJs and producers are ten-a-penny and the hype machines peddle mediocrity as if it were something special, it can be difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff. As such, the currency de jour is consistency & recommendations…

His consistency in the studio has culminated in ‘Wonderlust Bug’; his acclaimed debut artist album with some of the world’s biggest names queuing up to recommend it…
[Sasha] “The Hang Drum track is amazing - as is Release, Wonderlust and Lady Luck and the mixed album flows wonderfully too, keep it up mate”. [Laurent Garnier] “Great work…Great for big room business.” [Timo Maas] “Great album...v trippy and great variety!”. [M.A.N.D.Y.] “Solid collection of tracks. Well done!”

But talk is cheap, action stands out, and Timo comes up trumps again! His latest release on Sharam’s Yoshitoshi imprint recently graced the Beatport top 10 Tech charts for well over five months with many world class DJs citing it in their personal top 10’s and Defected featuring it on their In The House Brazil ’11 compilation.

2010 also saw the release of a double CD, littered with remixes from his album tracks by production heavyweights that include DJ Pierre, Onionz, Eric Kupper and James Harcourt. It is a testament to Timo’s calibre that such big names are ready to remix his work and is a pleasant shift from him doing the remixing – his deft touch can be heard on remixes of such luminaries as Leftfield, Justice, DJ Pierre, Louis Vega, Robert Owens, Coldcut, Danny Howells and Ian Brown and he is constantly on the lookout for ways to add his inimitable sound to wide-ranging projects including a 15 track ambient album under his new ‘T Mo’ guise.

His infamy has spread among the label bosses who set the trends and create the future-heroes of our worlds. Yoshitoshi, OFF Recordings, Skint, Southern Fried, 303 Lovers, Nervous, Audio Therapy, Dieb Audio, Cr2 & Toolroom are just some of the world-famous imprints who have clamoured to get a piece of Timo’s brilliance. And his recent collaborations with Jerome Sydenham, X-Press 2 and DJ Pierre all see their global release in 2011 too.

It seems incredible that he still has time to DJ around the world as well as working behind the scenes engineering and mixing down many other artists’ projects in his North London studio. Last summer saw him play the main stage at London’s biggest Dance music festival ‘South West Four’ as well as headlining festival stages from Brazil to India; but this is a man who has both a dedication and a love for his craft and this is something that he exudes, whether behind the decks or in the studio.

Whether you like your music to be played in the comfort of your own home, in grimy underground sweat-holes, or in extravagant and celebrious locales, the sublime and sensual sounds of Timo Garcia are guaranteed to deliver.

So, surf your way to sensory satisfaction and sample the delights of Timo Garcia at http://www.beatport.com/artist/timo-garcia/9535 .Zidan [ZidanMusic]http://www.blogger.com/profile/12920214215134385995noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2137777892732087485.post-38852391911479863652011-10-14T23:50:00.000-04:002011-10-14T23:50:39.888-04:00From the Deep #004 [download link]

Biography of SIS:
Real name / Burak Sar

SIS's first experience with electronic music was more or less accidental. Inspired by hearing Dj Karotte play percussive Indian-style beats at Frankfurt U60 Club at the age of 21, he decided on the spot that this would be his future.

Burak Sar aka Sis was born in 1980 in Michelstadt, southern Germany, and from a very young age was Inspired by his musician father, who introduced him to a myriad of musical instruments and rhythms with his Turkish musical group. Sis formed a rock band and played the drums, but after his dancefloor epiphany he bought a pair of Technics 1210s and learned how to mix. Within a short period of time spent developing his DJ skills, he began playing in small clubs and parties around Frankfurt and Mannheim.

Not content with limiting himself to DJing, Sis began learning the ropes of production, drawing on his musical roots to craft his own unique style of House Music. Sis gained confidence with his first release (Lilly from the Valley EP, Amused Rec.) in 2006, and he soon gathered more momentum. Following a release for 8bit Rec. (Voices of Istanbul EP), international attention came at the end of 2007 with his first EP for Cecille Rec. (La Garua/Orgsa), a record which sold out within a day in shops across Europe.

His second release for Cecille (Nesrib) was a real bomb, playlisted by all the top DJs around the globe. A number of other tracks followed, then came "Trompeta", arguably the hit track of summer 2008. After handing "Trompeta" to Ricardo Villalobos at Robert Johnson club in Frankfurt, Villalobos liked it so much that he decided to release it on his own boutique label Sei es Drum, which up to that point had only showcased Ricardo's own productions. Both DJs and DJ press agreed that Sis was one of that year’s best breakthough acts, as Groove Magazine awarded him "Producer of the Year" and "Track of the Year" (1st Nesrib, 2nd Trompeta) honours in their end of year poll, and Raveline named him the #2 Live Act of the year and Newcomer of the year.

Riding a well-deserved wave of hype, Sis he has delivered further well-received release for Welcome to Masemenos and Connoisseur Recordings, and followed this up by establishing own label, Cocolino Records. The future continues to look bright for Sis, and in 2011 he will release his debut project with Get Physical Music, with more quality tracks and DJ/live sets on the horizonZidan [ZidanMusic]http://www.blogger.com/profile/12920214215134385995noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2137777892732087485.post-13371282592070550252011-10-04T13:26:00.001-04:002011-10-04T13:28:09.218-04:00Denis A Guest Mix on "The Journey" Special 1 year anniversary show @InsomniaFM 7/10/11

Of all the DJ sets that I have compiled over the last few years, this one represents a transitional moment in my musical journey and I attempted to portray it within the set. It was after the initial podcast airing of this set that I received offers for shows on both InsomniaFM (my first home) and Ensonic-Radio (which hosts my original show "And After Light There Was House" ), this mix was then aired on the famous "Bedroom Bedlam" show on proton Radio. The rest is now history as those shows went on to gain large audiences and host many of the world's leading electronic artists.
Thank you to those who have supported me throughout this entire time, you know who you are, and to those who have just joined....you are in for some treats as time goes on ;)

Heartik was born in 1988 in a small city close to Reggio Emilia (north of Italy). Having entered the music world at only 12 years of age as a bass guitar player,he gained through knowledge of many genres of music (starting with 70's rock and disco than new wave).
But it was at the age of 15, after discovering house music, that he delved deeply into the clubbing scene and began to further his passion for the genre as the nightlife became an instilled part of his lifestyle.
Harbouring a passion to become involved in the clubbing scene, Heartik took to the decks. Being exhilarated by mixing the charming and powerful sounds of house music, he performed for friends at parties and local clubs for a few years, establishing a connection with the audience whilst extending his love for house music. It was this love for the music, along with influence from such artists as Daft Punk & Benny Benassi that led him to venture into the creation of house music. So from the end of 2008 he practiced the craft of production refining his skills that ultimately led to signings on labels under an old moniker.
The Italian electronic scene has been bubbling ferociously lately with some incredible talent and none more so than Turin based Luigi Rocca. The self-made producer and global travelling DJ also runs three of the most exciting record labels to emerge from Italy in the past 10 years - Hotfingers, Tuamotu and 303Lovers – alongside Manuel De La Mare and Alex Kenji. An international DJ in his own right Luigi has managed to forge a successful career circumnavigating the world performing at some of the planets most renowned and best-loved parties, where his unrivalled dexterity behind the CDJs has led to repeat bookings throughout Europe, North and South America.

When the likes of Tiësto, Richie Hawtin, John Acquaviva, Bob Sinclar, Dubfire and the notoriously impenetrable territory of Chilean megastar Ricardo Villalobos have all supported your music, it is perhaps fair to say that your sound is something of a mystifying one to pigeonhole. In the case of Luigi Rocca that is exactly the problem many have had when attempting to label his myriad of releases from over the years. With a back catalogue that stretches well beyond 200 releases, Luigi (also known as Marshall) has managed to reach virtually every corner of the electronic musical spectrum that is humanly possible.

Undeterred by his lifelong drive to fuse the elements of house and techno, Luigi has spent the past 10 years pushing his sound direct from his studio in Turin to dancefloors all around the world. It was this dedication, forged with a comparable high-spirited passion of Alex Kenji and Manuel De Le Mare, which led to the formation of the trios chart topping imprints Hotfingers, Tuamotu and 303Lovers. An acting co-owner with Alex and Manuel, Luigi finds time not only to pursue his own musical drives but also expand those of both future and established talent through the ever growing reach of these two recording imprints. To date all three labels have amassed a string of high profile releases and have under their respective umbrellas released material from a wide selection of artists that include Richard Dinsdale, Paul Thomas and Paolo Mojo. All of whom are a testament to the labels early dominance of the European music scene.

Plying his trade with his own productions Luigi has frequently found his music charting high within download sales and frequently being snapped up by esteemed labels from Tiger Records and Definitive Recordings to 1605 and Ministry of Sound.

In the past 18 months alone his releases have graced the Top 10 of various genre charts on Beatport – both his singles ‘Voodoo’ and ‘Ezili Can't Speak’ held strong the number 1 spot in Beatport’s Top 10 minimal chart upon their releases, whilst in the Beatport tech house chart tracks ‘Just Believe’, ’NDKj – Funkest Star (Marshall Remix)’, ‘Turin Quality Clubbing’, ‘Wally Lopez & Ismael Rivas – Is Deeper (Marshall Remix)’, ‘Black Conga’ all charted in the Top 10. Whilst his tech house rumbler ‘Swahili Song’ peaked at #1. His follow up release ‘Liftered’ not only claimed the #1 spot but also went on to be nominated by Beatport as “One of the best tracks of 2010”. Most recently his collaboration with Manuel De Le Mare titled ‘Tam Tam’ climbed high on download charts around the world.

Having set his sights on having another big year, 2011 will see Luigi working on an array of attention grabbing projects. Most notably is his forthcoming collaboration work with Pleasurekraft, John Acquaviva, alongside several studio releases with stable mates Manuel De La Mare and Alex Kenji. This year will also see Luigi remixing for a host of star-studded names that include Wally Lopez, Tomcraft and Joey Negro. Touring plans in 2011 will send Luigi on a world tour that has scheduled dates in Asia, South America and Europe, cementing further the global reach of his music within the electronic music scene.
For episode #012 of "And After Light There Was House" Techno will be emphasized with my special guest Alex D'Elia. One of the owners and founders of Frequenza Records which is one of the largest growing Techno labels out of Italy, with many of its main roster smashing clubs all around the world and dominating beatport.

This special episode will be airing 28/7 at 4:00pm EST only on Ensonic Radio!

Alex D'Elia is born in Riccione, the main center of the italian club scene... He got his passion for music, listening hours and hours to his records, leading him to be a dj at the age of 13, and win his first dj scratch competion prize at the age of 15, while was entertaining people in small clubs around his area.a In the meanwhile Alex's passion for music got so bigger, that drove him to built his first midi home studio in his own small room, and from this “small world” came the idea of his first cut project in collaboration with a close friend: P.F.Z "Love into the Future", released on the famous swiss compilation: DJ Energy Parade. Then he knew Andrea Doria and they have begun a collaboration on very different projects, like Avalone One "La onda del ritmo" (The Rhythm Wave) with Ramirez vocals. Another one was Atlantis Ita "See you in the next life", having a great acknowledgment working with Age One, Dino Lenny's U.K. based label. These records had a big room in clubs and was also published on the Pete Tong and Fat Boy Slim's Millenium compilation. Then Alex have produced many other projects, the most famous one is "Isn't life wonderful?", released on IDJ. The song it went in a short time a big room anthem (mostly in the english clubs) and was immediately published on the Ministry of Sound compilation. Constant experimental research, passion for every kind of music and curiosity for samples digital manipulation drove him to build a personal project called Loose Headz. In the last few years, he continued to work close to close, cheek to cheek with Andrea Doria, releasing “Jumping Jack” and presenting the first single together called “Arsenico E.P.” both released on BluFin.
September 2008 is the date of birth of his personal techno Label, Frequenza Records. Frequenza is going to release the first projects in these next months, Hi-quality projects including collaborations with friends as Andrea Doria, Nihil Young, Leo Martera (drummer and dj from world famous band Planet Funk), Dandi&Ugo, Piatto, Ragdoll and many others. For this big event the first Frequenza Eps are coming up fully remixed, including powerful remixes by Tobias Lutzenkirchen/LXR, Maetrik and many others... during this period in which the label is coming out, Alex finds the time to make many releases, remixes and a big fresh new project featuring John Acquaviva.Zidan [ZidanMusic]http://www.blogger.com/profile/12920214215134385995noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2137777892732087485.post-83642213169688840562011-07-08T16:20:00.000-04:002011-07-08T16:20:13.095-04:00#2 Guest this month: Jay Lumen

Very excited to welcome in Jay Lumen for the 2nd hour of the show! Set to be a very exciting Thursday afternoon indeed!

Music has been a part of Jay Lumen's life since his childhood years. He learnt music in a conservatoire for eight years, which provides a good basis to his ambition of making music. Besides composing music he became to be more and more open to the dj scena. In the beginning he played at parties that he organized on his own, then later he started with his career with complying occasional invitations. In the meantime several disc jockeys played his remixes and his own composed music. He builds his sets from the music basis of house, electrohouse, progressive house and progressive trance. His sounding is featured by dynamic, pulsating grooves as you can hear it also in his composed music and in his sets.Zidan [ZidanMusic]http://www.blogger.com/profile/12920214215134385995noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2137777892732087485.post-58954904352072096432011-07-06T14:32:00.000-04:002011-07-06T14:32:05.854-04:00#1 Guest this month: Christian Smith

For our 21/7 episode of "And After Light There Was House" we have a very special guest, owner of Tronic Records, Christian Smith

Swedish citizen, Christian Smith spent the late 80’s years in Germany soaking up the early house and techno sound of Sven Vath. Now based in Sao Paulo, he has been championing his funky mix of house and soulful techno for more than a decade, playing across Asia, North & South America, and Europe, plus regular slots at festivals like UK’s Creamfields, Holland’s Dancevalley, Spain's Monegros and Belgium’s I Love Techno. His music released on a variety of top labels like Renaissance; Adam Beyer's Drumcode, Josh Wink’s Ovum, 100% Pure, John Digweed's Bedrock, and his very own Tronic, only proves his flexibility in the studio. Similarly on the decks, Christian’s set is a cauldron of chunky grooves with loads of energy. Some of his favorite clubs are: Womb, Tokyo; Loft, Barcelona; Pacha, Buenos Aires; Arches, Glasgow; and Zouk, Singapore. With a full length solo artist album out on Tronic in early 2010 and massive crossover support from DJ's ranging from John Digweed to Carl Cox to Richie Hawtin, the future is very certain for Christian to stay on top as one of the leaders in forward thinking dance music.Zidan [ZidanMusic]http://www.blogger.com/profile/12920214215134385995noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2137777892732087485.post-48308314085994186202011-07-04T19:44:00.000-04:002011-07-04T19:44:34.355-04:00Rainer Weichhold "Great Stuff" Guest Mix

Special Guest Mix from the owner of Great Stuff Records! Beautiful Mix!

Rainer Weichhold started djing 17 years ago in the late 80ies with an eclectic mixture of Funk, Hip Hop and Indie. First he was a true hater of everything techno and house, which only changed when he had his enlightenment listening to the sets of Alex From Tokyo during Rainer’s stay in France 1993. Alex showed him how house music can be soulful and made him discover the world of Masters At Work and their NY sound.

1993 was also the year Rainer met and enjoyed Daft Punk for the first time, which obviously also helped him to get into that sound.

These days Rainer Weichhold plays two resident clubs and is touring all over Europe with his brilliant mixture of elektro, minimal and classics. And be aware, his sets are rocking and making every dancefloor explode. 17 years of experience can’..
Q: Who is Pleasurekraft?
A: Kaveh Soroush & Kalle Ronngardh’s baby (immaculately conceived of course)

Q: What is Pleasurekraft?
A: A simultaneously visceral and cerebral experience induced only by the seductive, deep, groove heavy, underground techno inspired music that you hear the kids listening to .. – Common side effects include: unrelenting head bobbing giving way to complete surrender to physical movement commonly referred to as ‘dancing’.

Q: Where is Pleasurekraft?
A: In your CD/tape deck/vinyl/mp3/neighborhood Club/Lounge – anywhere where organically inspired synthetic music lurks, ready to jump in your skin and make you move! However, the most concentrated “red spots” have appeared to be in 2 distinct locations – Stockholm, Sweden, and Miami, Florida.

Q: When is Pleasurekraft?
A: Since the dawn of man, to the future of our future of our future…..

Q: Why is Pleasurekraft?
A: Because we are hedonists and when the groove captures you – all you can do is surrender with pleasure.

Even though this episode of "And After Light There Was House" aired 2 months ago, It deserves a special feature.
Opuswerk isn't a man of many words as he is a firm believer of "music speaks louder than words" All he has to say about himself is as follows:

"Born between Egypt and the Netherlands, architect and thinker, lover of basslines, snycopated rythms, hypnotic melodies and of russian things. My musical universe constructs itself in the same way it self deconstructs around similar structures yet different, while repetitive and full of the hale of vodka. The far North, explored during the Transmediale Festival, as well as some EPs on label such as Absolutive, Ayeko, Hope and others, also participate in the design of what goes through my ears and comes out of my alambic."

Relatively young in the electronic scene, Opuswerk has unearthed a unique blend of dub techno that has been supported by the likes of Nick Warren and many more. This set is a beautiful example of the abilities of this Swiss talent.

Looking forward to many more great things from this man and many more appearances on the show.
